Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind Saudi Arabia’s regenerative tourism projects AMAALA and The Red Sea, has announced a strategic partnership with Marriott International, Inc. to open The Ritz-Carlton, AMAALA. This marks the fourth collaboration between the two companies, following the successful launches of The St. Regis Red Sea Resort, Nujuma (a Ritz-Carlton Reserve), and The Red Sea EDITION.
Scheduled to open in 2025, The Ritz-Carlton, AMAALA will be situated at the northernmost point of the Triple Bay masterplan. Offering 391 luxurious guestrooms, the resort will boast a mix of Marina Village, sea, and mountain views, with 80% of the rooms providing stunning water-facing vistas.
Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Marriott International, highlighted the growing appeal of luxury experiences in Saudi Arabia, stating, “AMAALA promises to be a one-of-a-kind, holistic wellness destination, and this signing signifies the strong demand for luxury experiences in emerging destinations in Saudi Arabia. We are thrilled to strengthen our relationship with Red Sea Global to bring an unrivalled level of luxury to the north of the Kingdom’s coast.”
The Ritz-Carlton, AMAALA will sit amidst pristine natural sand dunes, carefully preserved by the developer to maintain the area’s ecological integrity. Designed by renowned architecture firm Foster + Partners, the resort’s façade will seamlessly integrate with the surrounding landscape, maximising sea views from various vantage points. The dunes will also provide a natural canopy, creating shaded spaces for guests to relax and enjoy.
The architectural design of The Ritz-Carlton, AMAALA is expected to reflect the heritage of Al Wajh, a nearby coastal town on the Red Sea. Blending traditional influences with modern luxury, the resort will showcase a sophisticated design that balances timeless elegance with local craftsmanship. Guests will be able to immerse themselves in an authentic yet luxurious experience.
The resort will feature a variety of world-class amenities, including multiple dining venues, sunset restaurants with views of the Red Sea, and extensive leisure facilities. Highlights include an adult pool, a family pool, a unique rock pool, and a lavish spa. The resort will also house a fitness and recreation centre, wellness facilities, and an array of outdoor sporting activities. Additionally, with state-of-the-art event spaces capable of hosting up to 1,500 guests, The Ritz-Carlton, AMAALA is set to become a sought-after destination for weddings, conferences, and corporate events.
Phase One of the AMAALA project, centred on the Triple Bay development, is progressing swiftly. Upon completion, AMAALA will encompass 30 luxury hotels offering more than 4,000 rooms, alongside approximately 1,200 upscale residential villas, apartments, and estate homes. The destination will also provide high-end retail, fine dining, wellness, and recreational facilities, solidifying its position as a premier tourism and lifestyle hub.
