Dubai real estate developers step up to assist residents affected by record-breaking rainfall

Residential communities in Dubai have been heavily impacted by record-breaking rainfall in the UAE last week, with many properties submerged in floodwater. Families have lost belongings and some have been forced to evacuate their homes. The highest ever-recorded rainfall in over 75 years has brought the country to a standstill. As the authorities are working overtime to get the country back on track, property developers are too playing their part and helping residents to tide this crisis.

Free repairs for citizens

Emaar Properties had announced that they would repair all properties in their communities that were damaged during the recent heavy rains at no cost to the owners. “In response to the challenges posed by this adverse weather and heavy rains that Dubai has experienced in the past few days, I am pleased to announce that Emaar will undertake the repair of all properties within our communities that have been damaged by the recent rains at its own cost to ensure that our residents can return to their daily lives as swiftly and smoothly as possible,” mentions Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties.

Sheikh Hamdan also directed the Dubai Land Department and the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA) to coordinate with property developers to expedite the restoration of normalcy in all communities managed by the developers. He mentioned that all residential management companies and real estate developers will offer the following services at no additional charges:

  • Alternative housing for residents affected by the weather;
  • Distribution of food within affected communities;
  • Comprehensive pest control services;
  • Enhanced security to ensure the safety of residents;
  • Assistance with returning to residential properties, including interior cleaning services;
  • Monitoring and documenting damages caused by the rains during the insurance coverage period;
  • Assistance in assessing potential risks to properties.

MAG, another leading real estate developer has also pledged its commitment to assisting customers impacted by the recent heavy rains that have swept across the nation. The company mentioned will cover all the costs of necessary repairs for affected residents, across its residential developments. “In light of the unprecedented weather conditions experienced in the UAE earlier this week, it is incumbent upon us to stand by our customers during these challenging times. The resilience demonstrated by our residents, coupled with the supportive measures enacted by the wise government, serves as inspiration for us to extend our assistance to those in need,” says Talal Moafaq Al Gaddah, CEO of MAG Lifestyle Development.
